Bread Dipping in Olive Oil

dipping dish for breadOlive oil has recently been attributed by the American Heart Association (AHA) as helping to reduce the risk of heart disease and heart attacks, so it makes sense to try and make use of this condiment at every chance. A great way to do this is by olive oil dipping. select item

So, what exactly is olive oil dipping? It’s quite simple really. Take some flat Italian bread, or some fresh, steamed or grilled vegetables, and dip them into extra virgin olive oil. Olive oil dipping is a great, healthy alternative to other types of snacks, and can be used for many different occasions.

Try creating different olive oil dipping sauces for unique flavor sensations. Cracked black pepper, basil, sun dried tomato pesto and lemon juice all combine well with olive oil. But don’t stop there. Use your imagination to come up with olive oil dipping sauces based on your personal taste preferences. Simply add your herbs and spices to the olive oil and let it stand for at least 15 minutes so that the flavors can combine.

Olive oil dipping sauces are extremely versatile, and don’t have to be used exclusively for olive oil dipping. They also make great bases for salad and pasta dressings, or meat marinades. Also try drizzling oil over your favorite steamed or grilled vegetables for a new taste sensation. When creating olive oil dipping sauces, or using olive oil in it’s natural state to dip bread or vegetables, only extra virgin olive oil should be used. While you’ll spend a little more on this oil, the flavor is absolutely magic, and olive oil, or ‘pure’ olive oil as it’s sometimes known, cannot compare.

Combine sliced or cubed bread with a couple of olive oil dipping sauces, and you’ve got a winning appetizer, fit for any occasion. If you want to carry the flavor from appetizer to main, simply drizzle some of the oil over the vegetables, or use to marinade the meat you are serving. If you create your own unique olive oil dipping sauces, they can be bottled, and kept, to be pulled out at a moments notice. If the kids are complaining that they’re hungry, you can easily create a healthy snack between meals with some vegetable sticks teamed with the olive oil dipping sauces. When guests drop in without any warning, you’ve got a quick, easy dish that you can serve within minutes.

Of course, you don’t have to use flavored olive oil dipping sauces. If you’ve purchased quality extra virgin olive oil then it can easily be used right out of the bottle. Simply pour into an oil dipping dish, and serve with vegetables or bread. And, if you do quickly want to create a flavored oil dipping sauce, simply add your desired herbs and spices, and then heat for 10 seconds in the microwave. This allows the flavors to disperse through the oil without needing to leave it to stand for 15 minutes.

Versatile and healthy, olive oil dipping is quickly becoming a trend. If you haven’t already, try this quick and simple snack the next time you want something to munch on, or are hosting a party. No matter what the occasion, olive oil dipping is sure to please. oil dipping, bread dipping, olive oil dipping
